Introducing:

The
Gift Donation Deli is a fun little twist on doing
something
small that makes a big difference.
I have had this deli display case sitting in my store for a
year now. I thought it was a unique piece to display
gift items in. Well, it never really grabbed me in the
way that I hoped it would as a display. Nevertheless, it sits in
the corner of my store with no distinct purpose--until now.
The donation deli is a place where kids can put their gifts
they would like to donate to Phoenix Children's Hospital.
I personally will take them down to the hospital monthly on
the behalf of the donators. Each child, whether they
are having a party at Jennifer's Party Pad or not, will have
their picture taken and hung on the wall of fame as a gift
donator.
In an age where stores offer gift registry for birthday
gifts, I feel it is very important to teach kids, even as
young as 3, that there are kids who are not able to
experience things the same way most of us can, and we can
all do something to help others.
If you are interested in bringing in new gifts as a donator
to Phoenix Children's Hospital, please contact us directly.
Stay tuned for photos.

I
have been inspired lately by charity groups, Oprah, and
other moms who are doing their part to contribute in any way
shape or form to helping others, and the earth. As an
adult there are many opportunities to give, or volunteer, or
donate, which I do at different levels, but how much does my
4 year old son know about giving? It is not that I am
expecting him to solve world peace, just be introduced to
the concept that he is very fortunate. Fortunate that
he is able to run around, sleep in a comfortable bed, and
get special treats. I realized lately that I have to
do more for him, even at an early age. But what?
Jennifer's Party Pad is working on setting up family
activities that introduce young kids, ages 3-6, into the
world of philanthropy. As a mom myself, I get so busy
with all the things we have going on, I often forget that my
son needs to be involved with doing things for others and
the world around us for the future.
I
am starting to look for groups that focus on the younger age
groups and am having a hard time. As "they" say, if
you see a need for something, do it yourself. I would
love to work with an existing group or start forming
something with other interested parents.
Kids this young are limited in what they can do, yet are
able to be introduced to doing things with their family for
others. Anything from helping to maintain a garden
that helps feed people, to making placemats for Meals on
Wheels, and beyond. We learn best by doing and
remember that most in which we experience. I look
forward to doing more of my share and hope that you can
help.
If
you know of, or would like to be a part of starting
something, please contact me.
